Demulsifiers
Emulsion Problem
Emulsion
A stable dispersion of one liquid in a second immiscible liquid, such as milk (oil dispersed in water).
Emulsification
The process of dispersing one liquid in a second immiscible liquid; the largest groups of emulsifying agents are soaps, detergents, and other surface-active compounds (Surfactant)
Emulsion Breaking
In an emulsion, the combined sedimentation and coalescence of emulsified drops of the dispersed phase so that they will settle out of the carrier liquid; this can be accomplished mechanically (in settlers, cyclones, or centrifuges) with or without the aid of chemical additives to increase the surface tension of the droplets.
Emulsion Resolution

Demulsifiers Testing Equipment
The case contains all the tools to:
- determine the emulsion type (water-in-oil or reverse )
- screen several Demulsifiers (Bottle Test)
- determine the minimum amount of treating compound needed to break a particular emulsion (Ratio Test)
In addition to all the glassware and accessories needed for testing, the equipment also includes a centrifuge and a water bath with its own thermostat.
